TRAVEL: The Star’s and Stripe’s are Big and Bright…

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!!!! *yell’s at the top of her lungs*

They say there’s no place like home and sometimes I think they’re right ya’ll.

The Lone Star State, the big Tejas home of some of the most beautiful landscape you will ever see in your life. So vast that it takes 14 hours just to get from one end of the state to another. Home to some of the best food in America, yeah I said it Whataburger tops In-N-Out (biased much? yes.) Texas has a rich Afro-Mexican-American (that’s the label I gave it) culture and you can see it in the way we dance, in our music( bidi bidi bom bom? ), in our food ( Did I say tacos? ) the way we talk, and the way we walk. Yes, it’s just flipping awesome here in Texas.

For those of you that are “outsiders” let me give you the 411 on all things “Texan” so you can have a wonderful trip when you visit.

1). Visit Some Amazingly Historical Sights.

From the Cadillac Ranch of Amarillo, the rich history of the “River City” of San Antonio, paired with the amazing night life of Houston and Dallas. Oh and of course our lovely hippie capitol Austin.

2.) Indulge In The Culture

In all seriousness, Texas has an amazing mix of cultures and customs jammed together to make one BIG culture. Don’t forget we used to be Mexico once upon of time and the remnants of our Mexican-ruling past still have stuck around after all this time, you can literally see it everywhere you look in this great state. Then there’s the flare of the “Creole-Style” brought from Louisiana with that amazing Zydeco jazz music of New Orleans and of course amazing seafood! (anyone else getting hungry?)

3.) Two Words: Big Bend

Big Bend State Park is one of those things God took his precious time on.

4.) Rodeo’s and Fair’s; Oh My!

Texas is known for being the home of the “cowboy’s and cowgirl’s” you can see that in full play at one of our many Rodeo’s of course I say the best one is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo but maybe I’m just biased? Usually with the Rodeo comes a pretty awesome Fair.

5.) The People

Last but not least get to know some of the amazing people of Texas. Texas is home to people from all over the world and there is so much you can learn from getting to know the locals. We are said to be some of the most hospitable people in the country and I have seen that played out during many tragedies. We ban together and most importantly; you just DON’T and I mean DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS!

Unity at it’s finest; during Hurricane Harvey ’17

That’s all for now YA’LL,

-Texas Gal’
